US Governement WHITE PAPER on the Merits of Adult Stem Cell Research

March 9th, 2010

SJCRG:
This white paper discussion on the merit of adult stem cells in stem cell research is from the White House. This very biased paper shows what is wrong with the power that be in the ethics of the mainstream medical academia.
Quoting:
“..Compared to deriving human embryonic stem cells from normal blastocysts, procedures such as ANT are quite complex and would yield cells that would then have to be restored to genetic normality before stem cell lines could be derived. Many scientists, we suspect, would be reluctant to attempt such challenging feats with no rational purpose other than to satisfy the ethical objections of others,…..…..”
Folks your non-ethical ethical commisions at work.
But wait, horror, the paper is dated 2005!
I was just thwarted from some juicy bashing of the Obama administration…..

Immigrants with disabilities more frequently employed than US-born persons with disabilities(Eurekalert,CIRP)

March 9th, 2010

SJCRG: First of all we learn that immigration stands at 13 % in the US. Note that the author does not distinguish between legal and illegal immigration.
Two ways to look at the numbers:
1) Foreign Born disabled have no benefits and have to work
2) Foreign Born workers command lesser wages
3) Foreign Born workers are “less trouble” and more easily exploited
Seems that this applies more to illegal immegrants, maybe to legal ones, and certainly not to foreign born US citizens!
The confusion continues….

March 7th, 2010

SJCRG: Quoting the Wall Street Journal:
“..The suspected gunman had a license to legally obtain medicinal marijuana, according to his parents, and wanted to see the drug legalized….”
SJCRG: Loose standards of Marijuana distribution are probably the biggest obstacle to legitimate use. CLICK HERE for WSJ link.

SJCRG: Because of the hightened risk of psychosis, a serious psychiatric evaluation should probably be required in the “licensing” process of an individual’s authorization to purchase. CLICK HERE for our previous post on the risks of psychosis.

Quoting the AAN:
“…The AAN opposes generic substitution of anticonvulsant drugs for the treatment
of epilepsy without the attending physician’s approval….”
SJCRG: What about the generics at large for other diseases. Certainly most generics are effective, but all? Don’t we needs an efficacy study for each, beyond FDA assurances of similarity.
Or are we going to accept casualties as the normal way to do business in the great war against cost?
